Located in the rolling green mountains of Maria da Fé, Brazil, it is the ideal setting for the designer to concretise his ideas. The main source material Domingos uses, is recycled cardboard, which serves as a base for art objects, sculptural pieces and even furniture. Totora’s designs breathe sustainability, timelessness and serenity. The neutral ochre and deep earthy red tones in his work represent the colour of the earth in the rural areas of his home country.

He later attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bruges to learn publishing and graphic techniques. To deepen his knowledge even more, he started a two year education in plastic arts, specializing in ceramics and during this period he also learned several techniques for jewellery design. He spent a lot of his time creating furniture, jewellery and sculpting, which resulted in acquiring lots of skill from experience.
