ABOUT DESIGNER
Jacques Adnet
Jacques Adnet (1900-1984) architect and designer, leading exponent of the French Modernist movement. After studying at the Auxerre School of Design and at LโEcole des Arts Decoratifs, Adnet founded the JJ Adnet company together with his twin brother Jean. From 1928 to 1960 he was director of the Compagnie des Arts Franรงais. Among the designers on his team were prominent figures such as Franรงois Jourdain, Charlotte Perriand and Georges Jouve. During the 50s, he devoted himself to the design of furniture and received numerous commissions including the decoration of the private apartments of the French president at the Elysรฉe and the meeting room of the Paris headquarters of UNESCO. From 1959 to 1970 he directed the รcole Nationale Supรฉrieure des Arts Dรฉcoratifs in Paris.
